Cats win in five

The Saddleback women's volleyball team won its second straight game in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play with a 3-2 win over Santa Ana College on Wednesday in Santa Ana.  Stila Fresenius had a big night for the Bobcats.

Saddleback is off to a great start in conference play, but had to put in some extra work to pick up the "W" on Wednesday.  The Bobcats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pick up a critical win in OEC play.

Fresenius was the catalyst, finishing with an unprecedented 38 kills.  The freshman had a .417 kill percentage on the night and carried the Bobcats to the finish line.  In addition to her 38 kills, Fresenius also led the team with 18 digs.

Olivia Gonzalez was busy finding Fresenius, finishing with 59 assists in the match.

Saddleback started slowly, dropping the opening set 22-25 before rallying to tie the score with a 25-20 win in set two.  Santa Ana put the Bobcats on the defensive for a second time, beating Saddleback 25-23 in the third set.  The Bobcats again responded, dominating both the fourth set (25-13) and the fifth set (15-9) to pick up the win.

Saddleback is now 6-2 overall and 2-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats will continue with OEC play on Friday night at home against Santiago Canyon College.  Match time is scheduled for 6:00 PM inside the gymnasium.
