Two cats make the podium

The Saddleback women's track & field team had solid finishes on opening day of the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Track & Field Meet on Friday at Modesto Junior College.  The Bobcats had two athletes make the podium and currently sit in eighth place in the standings.

Saddleback had a successful first day, with both Chelsea Kerr (right) and Amanda McFadden (left) making the podium in their respective events.

Kerr finished in fifth place in the triple jump after a leap of 11.58 meters on her final jump of the day.  It would end up being her biggest jump of the season and moved her from sixth place to fifth in the state.  Kerr picked up four team points with the leap while Rachel Whitten added a point with an eighth place finish.  Whitten went 10.95 meters on her third attempt of the day.

McFadden was a sixth place finisher in the women's hammer throw.  She had a toss of 38.26 meters on her fourth attempt on Friday to earn three points for the team.

Saddleback will finish up at the state meet on Saturday in Modesto.
