Local freshman leads the charge in the 909

The Saddleback women's track & field team competed in Riverside this week and had some great individual results.  The best was from local Capistrano Valley High School freshman Fatima El-Haj-Ibrahim, who ran second.

El-Haj-Ibrahim has been improving all season and came within an eyelash of winning in the 400-meters on Friday, finishing second.  Her time of 1:05.85 was just 0.15 off her best time of the year puts her within four seconds of a top-10 time in program history.

Joining El-Haj-Ibrahim with solid performances in sprints was Celine Smith, who finished third in the 100 meters (12.6) and Corinne Cummings, who finished third in the 200 meters (28.15).

Caroline Dagarin led the Gauchos in long distances with a third place finish in the 1,500 meters (5:00.22).  Saddleback also had a third place finish from Marissa McNeal in the high jump (1.51m) and a fourth place finish from Hannah Auld in the pole vault (2.74m).

Saddleback will compete again in the Orange Empire Conference prelims on April 22 at Orange Coast College.
