Bobcats pounce on the field at Canyons

The Saddleback men's cross country team had a sensational performance in winning the College of the Canyons Invite on Friday in Santa Clarita.  The Bobcats were dominant throughout and freshman Nathan Trueman won his second straight event.

Saddleback was one of eight programs at the event, and separated themselves by the end of the day.  The Bobcats finished 1-2-3-5-6-7-8 in the team competition, blowing away the field.

Nathan Trueman won his second straight race to start the season, finishing the 4-mile trek in 21:50.5.  He was 22 seconds in front of his nearest competitor, averaging 5:27.7 per-mile.

Trueman wasn't alone, however, as a clowder of Bobcats were right on his heels.  Santiago Sanchez was second in the team competition and third overall (22:36.4), Brandon Pintor finished third in the team competition and fifth overall (22:54.2), Timothy Lacanienta was fifth in the team competition and seventh overall (23:15.7) and Steven Shadell was sixth in the team competition and ninth overall (23:27.1).  In total, Saddleback had seven of the top eight finishers in team competition, totaling a microscopic total of 17 as a team.

Saddleback will be back in action next Friday at the Biola Invitational at Craig Regional Park in Fullerton.
