Ibarra Canales second at state finals

The Saddleback cross country season concluded at the 3C2A State Finals on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.  Danna Ibarra Canales finished second in leading the Bobcats to a 16th place finish.

Ibarra Canales was one of the favorites heading into the race after winning the 3C2A Southern California Regional Finals two weeks back.  She didn't disappoint, finishing second in the 5k event.  Ibarra Canales crossed the finish line in 18:33.5, which was 10.6 seconds behind Clovis College's Rhiannon Walker.

Ibarra Canales' finish gave her First Team All-America status as a result of finishing in the top seven in the event.  She earned her first All-America tab in the spring when winning the state's 1,500 meters at the 3C2A Track & Field Finals.

Saddleback finished 16th as a team on Saturday.  The Bobcats had two others finish in the top-100 in the race as Kiana Zerehgar was 65th in the team event and 80th overall while Leilani Vivaldo was 76th in the team event and 97th overall in a race with 172 harriers.
