Bobcats beat Lancers to advance
The Saddleback women's volleyball team defeated Pasadena City College, 3-1, on Saturday night inside the gymnasium. With the win the Bobcats advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
Saddleback was hoping to bounce back from a two-game slide to end the regular season. The Bobcats did just that, showing resiliency in cruising to a 3-1 victory.
Saddleback prevailed in a first set marathon when they rallied for a 28-26 victory. The Bobcats then won another tight one in the second set when they pulled out a 25-22 victory.
Pasadena finally bounced back in the third set when they rallied for a 25-22 win. The Bobcats then closed out the match with another nailbiter, beating the Lancers 25-23.
Sophie Vienna was a workhorse on both ends of the court, leading the team with 46 assists while finishing second in digs (17). Meg Gardner led the offensive attack with 21 kills for the match.
Saddleback is now 18-6 overall following the win. The Bobcats will travel to Los Angeles Mission College for the next round of the playoffs on Tuesday. Saddleback and LA Mission are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM in Los Angeles.
