Vienna recognized by state
The Saddleback women's volleyball program was back in the news this week as one of its players was recognized as the State Player-of-the-Week by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA). Sophie Vienna was one of three players in the state to be recognized on Tuesday.
Vienna had 97 assists and 22 digs in two Saddleback victories last week. She had a huge night against inter-district rival Irvine Valley when she totaled 53 assists, 14 digs, two blocks and two kills in a 4-set win over the Lasers. Vienna is currently second in the state in assists-per-set at 10.55.
Vienna came to Saddleback from Edison High School where she lettered in both indoor and beach volleyball.
Vienna was joined by West Valley College's Sophie Ehret and Grossmont College's Daisy Ekeya in sharing the honor for this past week.
