Cats sweep past Dons
The Saddleback women's volleyball team won its third straight game with a 3-0 victory over Santa Ana College on Wednesday night inside the gymnasium. The Bobcats are now four games above .500 for the first time this season.
Saddleback started slowly but quickly kicked things into high gear. Tied at 8-8 in the opening set the Bobcats ripped off 17 of the next 20 points in cruising to a 25-11 opening-set victory.
Sets two and three were very similar as Saddleback was never tested by Santa Ana. The Bobcats won 25-10 and 25-12 in a match that took just one hour and four minutes.
Saddleback was great on offense, finishing with a .338 kill percentage for the match. Cori Willcoxson led the team with 10 kills on the night while Delaney Wilson was 7-of-11 in hitting to finish with a blistering .636 kill percentage. Brynn Craig-Kromm led the team with 12 digs while Sophie Vienna had a team-high 22 assists.
Saddleback is now 7-3 overall and 3-0 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play. The Bobcats are one-half game back of both Cypress College and Riverside City College in the OEC standings, who are both 4-0.
The 3-0 sweep from Saddleback was the second straight sweep, and third of the season from the Bobcats.
Saddleback will try to make it four straight wins on Friday when they travel to Cypress to take on the Chargers. Saddleback and Cypress are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
