Cats win third straight

The Saddleback volleyball team won its third straight game with a 3-1 victory over MiraCosta College on Wednesday night inside the gymnasium.  The Bobcats rallied from an opening-set loss to cruise past the Spartans.

Saddleback started slowly, but eventually kicked things into high gear on a night where the gymnasium temperatures were warm due to the sweltering heat outside.  The Bobcats dropped the opening set 23-25 before finding their stride and winning the final three sets in comfortable fashion.

Saddleback won the second set 25-19 before dominating the third (25-14) and cruising in the fourth (25-18).

Saddleback had big nights from Sophie Vienna, Brynn Craig-Kromm, Meg Gardner, Delaney Wilson and Meghna Trujillo.  Vienna dished out 39 assists to go along with 11 digs in the defensive zone.  Craig-Kromm led the team with 17 digs, while Wilson led the squad with 17 kills and Gardner chipped in 15 of her own.  Trujillo was hot from the service line, leading the team with four service aces.

In total Saddleback had a big night on offense, finishing with a .346 kill percentage.

Saddleback is now 3-1 to start the season, winning its last three games.  The Bobcats will attempt to continue the streak on Friday at San Diego City College.
