Bobcats compete at OEC Finals

The Saddleback track & field team competed at the Orange Empire Conference Finals on Saturday at Orange Coast College.  The Bobcats finished third in the women's competition and fourth on the men's side.   

Saddleback's lone winner at the OEC Finals came from Ayson Anderson in the men's pole vault.  Anderson cleared 3.95 meters on his third and final attempt in winning the event.  The Bobcats also had Micah Krosby finish third in the event.

Other finishers in the top-6 on the men's side included Griffin Schwab, Shae Tina, Mike Ayala and Rylan Edrosolano.  Schwab finished second in the high jump (1.95m) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.65).  Tina was fourth in the hammer throw when he had a personal-best toss of 44.33 meters, which was the 17th best score in the state this season.  Ayala had a personal-best time in the 1,500 meters when he finished fifth in crossing the finish line in 4:10.84.  Rylan Edrosolano was sixth in the high jump (1.75m).   

The women's team had 10 finishes in the top-6 at the meet.  The best was a second place finish in the triple jump from Emily Fuhrmann with a distance of 10.64 meters.  Fuhrmann also finished third in the long jump (5.08m) to make it to the podium for a second time.  Maya Schweitzer was fifth in the triple jump (9.91m) while finishing sixth in the long jump (5.01m).  Brenna McKinnon also made it to the podium on two occasions, finishing third in the 800 meters (2:38.45) and fifth in the 400 meters (1:02.04).  Kiana Zerehgar had a personal-best time of 40:36.25 in the 10,000 meters when she crossed the finish line in third place.  Danica Tubman was fourth in the 800 meters (2:39.42) while Midori McConathy was sixth in the javelin throw (21.40m).

Saddleback track and field will participate next at the Southern California Regional Prelims and Finals the next two Saturdays at Saddleback.
