OEC Invite provides big performances

The Saddleback women's track & field team was in action at the Orange Empire Conference Invitational on Friday at Riverside City College.  The Bobcats had a handful of solid performances.

Saddleback had wins from both Danna Ibarra Canales and Casey Jones, who win in the 800 meters and 3,000 steeplechase, respectively.  Ibarra Canales crossed the finish line in 2:25.37 to finish nearly 4.5 seconds in front of her closest competitor.  Jones was the lone runner in the steeplechase, finishing in 12:39.71 and achieving the "A" Standard set forth by the state.  Ibarra Canales wasn't finished, placing second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:58.98, which was good enough to hit the state's "B" Standard.

Other top scores were turned in by Lianna Villasenor and Maya Schweitzer.  Villasenor was fifth in both the 200 meters (27.50) and 400 meters (1:06.34) while Schweitzer was third in the triple jump (9.63 m) and fourth in the long jump (4.85 m).

Saddleback will be back in action at the Orange Empire Conference Heptathlon/Decathlon on March 6-7.
