Two women’s doubles teams qualify for state

The Orange Empire Conference women's tennis tournament was cut short due to wet weather this week, but the tournament went long enough to determine state qualifiers.  Saddleback had two doubles teams move forward to the state tournament at Ojai in late April.

Ainsley Beresford and Sydney Grove did enough to move forward, winning their first match against a duo from Cypress.  Beresford and Grove were seeded No. 3 in the field and defeated the team of Fernanda Romero Mora and Jocelyn Salgado, 8-1, to advance to the tournament quarterfinals. 

In addition, the team of Ellie Maruna and Averie Valverde moved through to the tournament after the remainder of the tournament was rained out.  With nine doubles teams advancing, the Maruna/Valverde duo was the highest remaining doubles team not to make the quarterfinals and will advance to Ojai.  

Saddleback's duos will compete at the 3C2A State Tournament in Ojai, California, on April 24-28.
