Gauchos roll past Chargers

The Saddleback women's tennis team cruised to a 7-2 win over Cypress College on Thursday at Cypress College.  The Gauchos remain in fourth place with five matches remaining.

Saddleback was playing a short-handed Cypress team that had to forfeit three matches due to a lack of players.  The Gauchos took advantage of the Charger misgivings, winning 2-of-3 doubles matches before rolling in singles play.

Jacklyn Melkonian and Kristina Parks both won twice on the courts on Thursday.  Melkonian and Parks combined for an 8-3 win in doubles play before cruising to identical 6-0, 6-1 wins in singles play.  Saddleback was given wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as Cypress was short on players.

Saddleback improved to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in Orange Empire Conference play with the win.  The Gauchos will play again on Tuesday when they host Irvine Valley College (8-2, 4-1).  The Gauchos and Lasers are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM on the Saddleback Courts.
