Diver adds second medal at state

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team is finishing up the season this weekend in Northern California at the CCCAA state finals at De Anza College.  Diver Sarah Duke has had a big weekend so far, bringing home two medals.

Duke (third from right) finished in third place in the 3-meter dive on Friday, scoring an impressive 238.10 points.  It was her second medal of the meet after finishing in third on Thursday in the 1-meter dive.

Duke was a seventh place finisher two years ago at the state finals in the 3-meter dive and went to Northern California this season trying to improve on her performance from 2016.  She earned All-America honors in both events as a result of finishing in the top-8.   Along with the individual accolades she gave the Gauchos 32 points in the team competition.

Saddleback currently sits in 21st place through two days heading into the final day on Saturday.  In addition to Duke, Kailey Banayat earned three points for the team by finishing 14th in the 100 Backstroke (1:01.27).

Saddleback will conclude the season at the finals on Saturday in Cupertino, California.
