Two Bobcats make a commitment

The Saddleback women's soccer program was back in the news this week with the announcement that two members of the 2023 squad have given a commitment to a four-year university.  Summer Hackett and Alyssa Sims gave a verbal commitment to California State University-Bakersfield, according to the soccer office.

Saddleback has had one of the best defenses in the state the past two seasons.  Two of the main components were Hackett and Sims, who both are on their way to CSU-Bakersfield.

Hackett was recently named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team after making the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team.  She played in all 22 games during the season as one of the pillars on a back line, scoring two goals and finishing third on the team with nine assists.

Sims was named the Orange Empire Conference Defensive MVP following the conference schedule.  She played in all 22 games during the season, finishing with four goals and eight assists.

Hackett and Sims were part of a defense that totaled 15 shutouts this past season and 31 shutouts over the past two years.  The Bobcats were 41-3-4 over the past two seasons, winning a state and national title in 2022 and spending the majority of the 2023 campaign as the top-ranked team in the country.

Cal State Bakersfield is located in Bakersfield, California, and plays an NCAA D1 schedule within the Big West Conference.
