Bobcats bounced from the playoffs

The Saddleback women's soccer team saw its season come to a close with a 1-0 loss to Santa Monica College in the 3C2A Regional Semifinals on Tuesday inside the stadium.  It was the only loss of the season for the Bobcats.

Saddleback had a special season in 2023.  The Bobcats won 20 games, captured a second Orange Empire Conference title in three seasons and broke numerous records along the way.  Unfortunately, Saddleback couldn't break through against a tough Santa Monica defense on Tuesday, ending a historic run.

Santa Monica scored the lone goal in the 45th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick after a foul inside the box.  Vashti Zuniga cashed in the opportunity for the Corsairs in what would be the only goal of the night.

Saddleback tried desperately to get the equalizer down the stretch.  The Bobcats peppered the Corsair defensive zone, but couldn't break through in suffering their first defeat since November of last season.

Saddleback finished the 2023 campaign 20-1-1 overall, winning the Orange Empire Conference title with a 13-0-1 record.  The Bobcats set a number of team and individual records along the way, winning 14 straight games at one point while Chloe Green (pictured) set new scoring records with 33 goals during the season.

Congratulations Bobcats on a historic season!
