Cats shoot down Lasers in latest win

The Saddleback women's soccer team pulled into a tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 5-0 win over Irvine Valley College on Friday inside the stadium.   The Bobcats outshot the Lasers 36-2 for the game.

Saddleback dominated from start to finish, peppering the IVC goal and cruising to a comfortable win.  They also received some good news out at Santiago Canyon College where Orange Coast College tied Santiago Canyon (1-1) to pull the Bobcats into a tie with Santiago Canyon for the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) lead.

Saddleback scored in the fifth minute when Chloe Green tallied her 18th goal of the season off a pass from Summer Hackett for what would end up being the early game-winner.  The two hooked up again in the 13th minute for a 2-0 lead and the Bobcats were off and running.

Saddleback added two more goals in the opening frame, with Abby Grabowski (pictured) scoring her first goal of the season off a feed from Avalon Valousky in the 39th minute and Alexis Wright scoring her fifth off a pass from Christina Santoyo in the 44th minute.  The Bobcats would add one more goal in the second half as Mazey Kasberg directed a pass from Alyssa Sims into the net in the 61st minute for her third goal of the season.

Saddleback is now 11-0-1 overall for the season and 5-0-1 in OEC play.  The Bobcats have now gone 465 minutes since giving up a goal against Cypress in late September.  It was the ninth shutout of the season for Saddleback and ran the program's unbeaten string to 19 games.  The last time the Bobcats lost a game was on November 4 of last season.

Saddleback has a showdown at Santiago Canyon on Tuesday.  The Bobcats and Hawks are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
