Gauchos find gold at Copper Mountain

The Saddleback women's basketball team got back into the win column with an 86-30 victory over Copper Mountain College on Wednesday in Joshua Tree.  The Gauchos received 16 points each from Kayla De Leon and Nadia Taghavi-Dinani in breaking a six game losing streak.

Saddleback was riding a streak of bad luck heading into Wednesday's match-up and took it out on the Fighting Cacti.  The Gauchos outscored the Copper Mountain 20-7 in the opening quarter and never looked back, recording their largest margin of victory of the season.  Up 39-16 at the half, Saddleback exploded in the third quarter and held a 67-20 lead heading into the final quarter.

The 16 points by Taghavi-Dinani was easily her best game of the season, eclipsing a previous high of seven in the opening game of the season.

Saddleback is now 5-17 overall and 2-7 in Orange Empire Conference play after the win.  The Gauchos will try to make it two in a row when they host Santa Ana College on Friday night.  Game time is scheduled for 5:00 PM in the Saddleback Gymnasium.
