Gauchos open playoffs at home against Pasadena City
The women's basketball team is back in the playoffs for the first time in three years and will host Pasadena City College on Friday night at 7:00 PM. The Gauchos were seeded No. 7 for the playoffs after a 21-9 regular season.
Saddleback finished in second place in the Orange Empire Conference and features the conference MVP Janae Omusi. Pasadena City (20-9) finished in fourth place in the South Coast Conference North Division behind the No. 1-seed Mt. San Antonio, No. 2-seed East Los Angeles and No. 8-seed Los Angeles Trade Tech. The last time the two programs met was at the beginning of the 2012-13 season with PCC beating the Gauchos 72-49 in the third place game of the Lady Gaucho Classic.
The winner of the game on Friday night will play on March 4 for the right to go to the state tournament held at Las Positas College on March 10-12.
Four other programs from the Orange Empire Conference made the playoffs, with Cypress getting the No. 4-seed, Riverside City the No. 11-seed, Orange Coast the No. 12-seed and Santa Ana the No. 15-seed.
Friday's game against Pasadena City is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
