Omusi says yes to Kennesaw State

More good news continues to pour in for Gaucho women's basketball star Janae Omusi, who made a commitment to Kennesaw State University on Sunday.  Omusi was crowned the Orange Empire Conference MVP on Saturday.

Saddleback just finished up one the more successful regular seasons it has had in the past decade and with it comes notoriety and attention from recruiters.  Omusi was the big beneficiary over the weekend, having back-to-back days of praise after winning the conference MVP and then adding a DI scholarship.

Omusi received an offer from Kennesaw State University and promptly committed to the Owls.  Kennesaw State is located in Kennesaw, Georgia, and plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Omusi was tabbed the Orange Empire Conference MVP on Saturday at the OEC post-season meeting.  She averaged 19.9 and 9.3 rebounds-per-game in 2016-17 with a season-high 35 points against Fullerton College on January 25.  Omusi finished the season with 13 double-doubles, scoring in double figures in 28-of-30 games this season.

"Janae is one of the more complete players I have ever coached," head coach Fentriss Winn said.  "She's tough to defend because she can beat you inside or out."

Omusi attended Horizon Christian Academy in San Diego and spent two seasons at Iowa Western College, redshirting in 2014-15.
