Gauchos advance to Panther Pride semis

The Saddleback women's basketball team came off a 13-day layoff with a 61-50 win over Barstow College at the Panther Pride Classic on Friday at Chaffey College.  The Gauchos trailed early but found their stroke in the second quarter in improving to 3-4 on the season.

Bryanna Lopez came off the bench to lead the Gauchos with 12 points while adding six rebounds.  Lopez was 3-of-8 from the field and made 4-of-6 free throws as the Gauchos shot 41% from the floor. 

Barstow (6-3) entered the contest at 6-2 and held a 21-12 lead with eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.  The Gauchos then went on an 11-0 run, holding the Vikings without a point for nearly four minutes.   Saddleback took the lead when Nikole Delarosa buried a three-pointer to give the Gauchos a 23-21 lead.  Delarosa would make 2-of-4 from long range on the day and finish with eight points.

Saddleback will face the winner of Citrus College and Los Angeles Trade Tech College tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
