Bobcats third at OEC Finals

The Saddleback track & field season came to a close on Friday with the Bobcats finishing third at the Orange Empire Conference Finals.  The Bobcats had a number of top-5 finishes.

Saddleback had an opportunity to show off its new stadium on Friday as the OEC Finals took place inside the brand new home.  The Bobcats finished third in the meet, led by Marquis Colvin.

Colvin (pictured) won the 800 meters in a time of 2:00.62.  He was more than four seconds in front of his closest competitor, putting him at the top of the stand.  The 800 meters was a great event for Saddleback, who also had Matthew Bartsch (2:15.70) in fourth and Steven Shadell (2:17.44) in fifth.

Saddleback had a number of other solid performances turned in on Friday.  Shadell also finished second in the 1,500 meters (4:15.75) while Kyler Doverspike was second in the 400 meters in a time of 51.46 and finished fourth in the 200 meters (23.29).  Preston Hong was a fourth place finisher in the 100 meters (11.49) and finished fifth in the 200 meters (23.37). 

Saddleback's 4x400 relay team of Doverspike, Colvin, Hong and Patrick Michinock finished in second place with a time of 3:36.67.

Saddleback had some great finishes in field events.  Grant Karn was third in the triple jump (11.57m) and fourth in the long jump (5.85m).  Sam Gatta led the throws team with a second place finish in both the discus (38.23m) and hammer throw (30.06m).
