Perelman wins OEC decathlon

The Saddleback track & field team was back in the news today as the Gauchos were competing in the Orange Empire Conference Decathlon at Riverside City College on Wednesday and Thursday.  Saddleback had a big finish from freshman Nikolai Perelman, who won the event.

Perelman won three events, taking first place in the shot put (10.88m), discus (29.17m) and pole vault (4.40m).  He also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.66) while finishing third in the long jump (5.89m), high jump (1.58m) and javelin (42.23m).

Perelman's score of 5,658 points ranks No. 7 all time in the history of the program.  He is now ranked No. 1 in Southern California and No. 2 in the state following the event.
