Men's swimming 4th at first OEC event

The Saddleback men's swim and dive team finished in fourth place at the first Orange Empire Conference meet of the season at the Saddleback Aquatics Complex.  The Gauchos had 10 finishes in the top-5.

Andrew Dimino was once again a winner at the 100 Freestyle race when he touched the pad in 48.38 seconds.  It was a second straight win for Dimino, who won at the Golden West Invitational last week.  Dimino shaved 1.38 seconds off of his time from a week earlier and his finish on Friday was just out of the top-30 all-time in Saddleback history.  Dimino also finished second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:51.51.  His time of 22.29 in the 50 Freestyle was good enough for fifth place on Friday.

Luke Prendeville also had a great day, finishing in the top-5 in two separate events.  Prendeville started the day by finishing third in the 500 Freestyle race in a time of 5:16.65.  He then finished second in the grueling 1,650 Freestyle race in a time of 18:22.36.  Charlie Yu was also a top-5 finisher in the 1,650 event, finishing fourth.

Saddleback had two top-5 finishers in the 200 Backstroke when Nick Deloney finished third and Colin Sowers fifth.  Deloney finished in 2:18.55 while Sowers finished in 2:25.12.

Saddleback's best finish of the day in relay events was in the 200 Freestyle Relay.  The Gauchos swam fourth in a time of 1:35.15, shaving over three seconds off their time from a week earlier.

Saddleback will be back in the water on March 22 when they travel to Fullerton College for the next Orange Empire Conference event.
