Men’s golf second in Costa Mesa

The Saddleback men's golf team shot a season-low score on Monday in finishing second in Orange Empire Conference play at Costa Mesa Country Club.  The golf team was 4-over-par as a team in finishing one shot back.

Saddleback is still in the hunt in the Orange Empire Conference thanks to another brilliant round on Monday on the Los Lagos Golf Course at Costa Mesa Country Club.  The team had six scores in the 70's, led by Denis Watson.  The freshman from Fort Lauderdale (FL) was 1-under par on the day, shooting 71 on the 6,542-yard layout.  He finished in a tie for third place in medalist play with the round. 

Joining Watson (pictured) with solid rounds were Zachary Stout (72), Dustin Vasquez (73), Chase Bosanko (74), Arthur Hess (74) and Jacob Martin (75).   It was the lowest total for Saddleback in over a decade. 

Saddleback entered the day in second place in OEC play and eight games back of Mt. San Antonio.  The golf team picked up one game on the Mounties on Monday as Mt. San Antonio finished third.   The teams will be back at it this Wednesday at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club.
