Gauchos fifth at MSJC Classic

Gauchos fifth at MSJC Classic

The Saddleback men's golf team had a solid performance at the annual Mt. San Jacinto College Classic on Wednesday, finishing fifth out of 16 teams in Beaumont.  A pair of Gauchos shot 74 as the team had its best team score of the year.

Saddleback was coming off a pair of so-so performances to start the season and with some of the best programs in the southern half of the state in attendance, wanted to make a better showing.  The Gauchos responded with their best score of the year, shooting 384 with all five scores in the 70's.

Jackson Blogg and Maxwell Hooties-Meursing both fired (+2) rounds of 74 set the pace for Saddleback on the 7,377-yard Champions Course (par 72) layout at Tukwet Canyon Morongo Golf Club in Beaumont.  Blogg finished the day with one birdie and three bogies while Hooties-Meursing was even par heading into the final home before finishing with a double-bogey for a round of 74.  Both players finished in a tie for third place in individual play, two shots back of Riverside City's Michael Herrera.

Other Gauchos to shoot in the 70's were Cole Griffo (78), Kevin An (79) and Evan Echelberger (79).
