Gaucho golf moves into 2nd

The Saddleback men's golf team moved into second place in the Orange Empire Conference last week with a solid performance at Los Lagos Golf Course in Costa Mesa.  The Gauchos finished second to create a logjam in the middle of the standings.

Saddleback entered the day in third in the conference standings, but won 4-of-5 matches to move into a three-way tie with Santiago Canyon College and Cypress College for second place.  The Gauchos were led by Nick Prudhomme, who fired a 1-under-par round of 71 on the 6,500-yard layout.

The team score of 374 was easily the best round of the season for Saddleback.  Prudhomme was joined by Troy Ditzler (73), Jack Lutz (74), Alex Diaz (76) and Robert Lievana (80) in finishing nine shots back of Cypress.  The biggest surprise of the day may have been Orange Coast College, who entered the day in first place by a wide margin but finished fourth on the day.

Saddleback will play again on Monday when they travel to Victoria Country Club in Riverside.
