Gauchos finish 2nd in home match

The Saddleback men's golf team had a solid showing in their only home match of the season at Tijeras Creek Golf Course, finishing second out of six teams in the field.  Sophomore Nick Prudhomme was the catalyst, tying for medalist honors.

Saddleback entered Monday's match in fourth place, just one game back of Cypress and two games back of Santiago Canyon.  The Gauchos needed a solid performance on the tough track and received it by shooting 400 and finishing seven shots back of first place Orange Coast.

Prudomme was on his game, making the turn at 2-under par by carding a 34 on the front nine.  He started his round by making birdie on the opening hole after missing a 15-footer for eagle.  Prudhomme would actually get to -3 through 13 holes before the golf course struck back on the finishing five holes to finish at +1 (73).

Prudhomme (pictured) finished in a tie for medalist honors with Orange Coast's Marcus De La Rosa, who currently leads the conference in scoring average.  It was Prudhomme's best finish of the season.
