Bowden sets three-point record in win

The Saddleback basketball team remained in the hunt for the playoffs with a 93-55 win over Santa Ana College on Friday night inside the Saddleback Gymnasium.  Guard Nick Bowden had a massive night, finishing with 29 points for the game and setting a new three-point record.

Bowden was red hot from the outside, making 9-of-13 from beyond the arc.  The nine three-pointers broke the record of eight in a game set by three different players.

Bowden was part of a Bobcat offense that shot 54.5% from three-point range.  Saddleback finished 18-of-33 from beyond the arc, which was in stark contrast to the shooting on the other side of the court.  Santa Ana couldn't buy a basket from long range, making only 1-of-21 for the entire night.

Saddleback opened up a 44-21 lead at the half and never looked back, leading by as much as 42 points at one point in the second half.  The Bobcats also held a sizeable advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Dons 40-24 on the night.

Saddleback is now 13-8 overall and 5-4 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats are now tied for fourth place in OEC with Irvine Valley College, one half game ahead of Cypress College.

Saddleback will have a busy week again next week, playing three games in six days.  The Bobcats play on the road at Santiago Canyon (Monday, 6:00 PM) and Riverside City (Wednesday, 5:00 PM) before hosting Orange Coast on Saturday (5:00 PM).
