Gauchos to host Marauders in playoffs

The Saddleback men's basketball team has qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Playoffs.  The Gauchos were seeded No. 15 and will host Antelope Valley College on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. 

Saddleback finished the regular season 18-10 overall and 11-5 in Orange Empire Conference play.  They ended up tied for third place in the OEC and were 1-of-6 teams from the conference to make the playoffs.

Saddleback will host Antelope Valley, who finished 13-15 overall and 8-6 in the Western State South Division.  The Marauders finished in fifth place in the WSCS, with all four of the teams in front of them making the playoffs.

Saddleback and Antelope Valley have played 18 times overall, with both programs winning nine times.  The last time the two teams played was at the beginning of the 2017-18 season, with Antelope Valley winning 56-53.  The last time the two teams met in the playoffs was during the 2016-17 season when Antelope Valley ended the Gaucho season with a 79-67 victory.

Saddleback and Antelope Valley have played five common opponents in 2019-20.  The Gauchos went 4-2 against Citrus, Canyons, Santa Monica, Glendale and Santa Ana while the Marauders went 5-4 against the same opponents.
