Shorts joins former Gauchos now playing professionally

Former Saddleback men's basketball player TJ Shorts is now playing overseas for the BK Ventspils in Latvia.  Shorts is one of six former Gauchos playing professionally.

Shorts played two years at Saddleback as part of the 2015-16 and 2016-17 teams before transferring on to UC Davis where he was as an All-Big West selection in 2018-19.  Now at BK Ventspils, he currently leads a 6-0 squad with 6.8 assists-per-game, playing over 30 minutes-per-game.

Other former Gauchos playing overseas or professionally include Maurice Jones, Breaon Brady, Lyle Hexom, Franklin Session and Charles Trotter. 

Jones played at Saddleback in 2014-16 and currently plays for Estudiantes Concordia in Argentina.  Brady played at Saddleback from 2015-17 and plays for Gostivar in North Macedonia.  Hexom played at Saddleback in 2015-16 and now plays for Djurgarden in Sweden.  Session played at Saddleback in 2007-09 and recently played for the Killer 3's in the Big3 League.  Trotter played at Saddleback in 2015-16 and recently played for Atlanta in the Eurobasket Summer League.
