Former Saddleback star drafted by the Pirates

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news on Monday as former player Mike Jarvis was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the annual Major League Baseball Draft in Atlanta.  Jarvis played at Saddleback in 2017 and 2018 before transferring to San Diego State University.

Jarvis was the first selection in the sixth round and the No. 163 overall selection by the Pirates.  He's the first former Saddleback player drafted since 2018 when four former Saddleback stars head their names called.

Jarvis played for Saddleback in both 2017 and 2018.  He was an All-Orange Empire Conference First Team selection in 2018 after batting .337 in conference play, leading the team in triples (2) while tying for the team lead in both stolen bases (8) and runs-scored (19).  Jarvis had a career batting average of .303 in 68 games at Saddleback.

Jarvis' brother, Luke, was one of the four former Saddleback players drafted as part of the historic 2018 draft along with Tanner Brubaker, Brett Auerbach and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
