Former Gaucho signs with Giants

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week with the announcement that former Gaucho Brett Auerbach has signed a deal with the San Francisco Giants organization.  Auerbach spent the past two seasons at Alabama after a stellar career at Saddleback.

Auerbach played in both 2017 and 2018 for Saddleback and was a First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection both seasons.  He was drafted in the 40th round of the 2018 Draft by the Colorado Rockies before opting to go to Alabama.

While at Alabama, Auerbach was off to a phenomenal start in 2020 when the Coronavirus hit.  He was batting .388 while starting all 17 games, leading the team in total bases (43) and stolen bases (12).

While at Saddleback, Auerbach put up huge numbers for two straight seasons.  He ranks fifth all-time in career doubles (31), career stolen bases (36) and career walks (54).   His 118 career hits ranks 14th all-time.

Previous to Saddleback, Auerbach lettered in baseball at Tesoro High School before graduating in 2016.  While at THS, Auerbach was a First Team All-South Coast League selection and played in the Orange County All Star Game.
