Scheftz drafted by Red Sox
The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this weekend as the MLB Amateur Draft was held in Secaucus, New Jersey, June 9-11. Pitcher Jordan Scheftz had a big day, hearing his name called on Saturday.
Scheftz was selected with the 838th pick overall in the 28th round by the Boston Red Sox. He now has until 11:59 PM, August 15, to decide whether or not to sign with the organization. If not, Scheftz has a number of college choices to select from should he want to continue his schooling.
Scheftz came to Saddleback from UC Irvine and played with the Gauchos for two years. He was 4-3 with a 3.48 ERA this past season, pitching 31 innings. In two seasons at Saddleback, Scheftz pitched 50.1 innings and was 5-3 overall, striking out 38.
