Baseball wins seventh straight in Visalia

The Saddleback baseball team ran its winning streak to seven games on Wednesday with a 9-2 win at College of the Sequoias.  The Gauchos rapped out 13 hits while the pitching staff held the Giants in check.

Saddleback never trailed in the game, scoring runs in all but three innings.  The Gauchos took a 4-1 lead in the third inning when Ryan Fitzpatrick blasted a two run homer.  It was Fitzpatrick's second home run of the season and provided all the offense Saddleback would need.

Adam Gordon had a hot day at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBI.  Gordon (pictured) had singles in the second and third inning and doubles in the eighth and ninth innings in what was easily his best offensive game of the year.

Domnique Key started on the mound and pitched seven innings in improving to 2-0 on the season.  Key surrendered five hits while striking out three and left with a 6-1 lead on the scoreboard.  Cameron Aufderheide and Chase Lyford both pitched an inning in relief with the Gauchos well in control of the outcome.

Saddleback is now 17-3 overall and has won seven straight games.  They will continue their three-day tour of the Central Valley with a game at Bakersfield College (11-9) on Thursday.  The Gauchos and Renegades are scheduled to play at 12:00 PM today.
