Cats open with a win

The Saddleback women's tennis team opened the 2025 campaign with a 6-3 victory over Antelope Valley College on Friday at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.  The Bobcats will play on the road on Tuesday.

Saddleback played a person down on Friday, so they started the day in a two-point hole.  The Bobcats quickly responded by winning 2-of-3 doubles matches to even the score before winning four of the five singles matches to win on opening day.

Brooke Buser and Eleanor Hamlin opened the season with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.  The Bobcats also won at No. 2 doubles when Averie Valverde teamed with Kellie Hoang for an 8-2 victory.

All four players would win at singles play to push Saddleback past Antelope Valley for the win.  The most impressive win came from Buser (pictured), who cruised past Ariana Valiente 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. 

Saddleback will play again when it travels to Santa Monica College on Tuesday.  The Bobcats and Corsairs are scheduled to start at 1:00 PM in Santa Monica.
