Women's swimming 5th at first OEC event

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team finished in fifth place at the first Orange Empire Conference meet of the season at the Saddleback Aquatics Complex.  The Gauchos had five finishes in the top-5.

Saddleback's top performer was Lindsey Turi, who had two separate top-5 finishes on Friday.  Turi started the day with a fourth place finish in the 500 Freestyle Race when she touched the pad in 6:02.75.  She then tested her endurance in the 1,650 Freestyle Race, finishing second in a time of 20:35.65.  Turi's tie in the 1,650 was good enough to put her in the top-30 all-time in Saddleback history.

Another Gauchos having a big day was Gabrielle Walker, who finished third in the 100 Breaststroke and sixth in the 200 Breaststroke.  Walker finished the shorter version in 1:16.77 before finishing the 200 in 2:46.11.  Her time in the 200 Breaststroke registers as a top-10 time in the history of the program.

Other top-5 finishes were turned in by Tori Higginson (5th) in the 1,650 Freestyle Race (24:22.57) and the 200 Medley Relay Team (5th, 2:11.70).

Saddleback will be back in the water on March 22 when they travel to Fullerton College for another Orange Empire Conference event.
