Gauchos swim to 6th at PCC

The Saddleback women's swim team was in action this past weekend at one of the more prestigious meets of the year at Pasadena City College.  The Gauchos had a great showing, finishing sixth out of 22 programs.

Saddleback had a number of top-10 finishes, including five top-10 finishes from the relay teams.  In addition, three separate individuals finished in the top-10 in six different events.

The top finish of the day was from Raselle Chetwynd (pictured middle), who finished in third place in the 100 fly race.  Chetwynd recorded a time of 1:10.88, finishing 3.08 seconds off the lead and just 0.21 seconds out of second place.  She also finished in ninth place in the 200 earlier in the day with a time of 2:04.95, which puts her at 35th all-time in program history.

Audra Hogan (pictured left) was also impressive, finishing with three top-10 finishes on the day.  Hogan opened the meet by finishing 10th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:28.54, which is good enough for 48th all-time in program history.  She later finished in 10th place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.84, which is 44th all-time in program history.  Hogan finished with a seventh place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:13.06, which moved her all the way up to sixth all-time in program history.

Another top-10 was turned in by Hailey Melendrez (pictured right), who finished 10th in the 200 fly with a time of 2:47.89.  The time by Melendrez ranks No. 10 all-time in Saddleback history.

Saddleback was very competitive in relays, finishing seventh in the 200 free (1:50.11), sixth in the 400 medley (4:32.86), fifth in the 800 free (8:56.29), eighth in the 200 medley (2:04.13) and seventh in the 400 free (4:01.78).
