Bio

Melendez is in his 9th season as an assistant coach at Saddleback starting with the program in the 2012 season.  A product of Servite High School in Anaheim, Melendez went on to play college soccer at Sacramento State where he was an all-conference selection, his team’s captain for two seasons, and established new school records for most games started and most minutes played.

He went on to play professionally with several teams, including the Long Island Rough Riders, the California Gold, and alongside Saddleback head coach BJ McNicol with the Utah Blitzz.

Melendez started his coaching career as the head coach at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento and is the current head coach at Rosary Academy in Fullerton.  He is the Director of Coaching for CDA Slammers FC in Huntington Beach and on the Slammers FC ECNL staff. He makes his home in Costa Mesa with his wife Annie and two kids Sienna and Luke.
