Cats win eighth straight

The Saddleback women's soccer team won its eighth straight game with a 3-1 victory over Orange Coast College on Friday afternoon inside the stadium.  It was the eighth straight win and ran their unbeaten streak to 13.

Orange Coast opened the scoring when Stephanie Serrato scored her 11th goal of the season unassisted.  It put the Bobcats in a hole, but it wouldn't last long.

Saddleback evened the game in the 40th minute when Katelyn Peters put in a header off a beautiful feed from Emery Simis to tie the game.  The Bobcats struck again before the half when Isabelle Whittaker got a toe on a ball passed by Jinan Said and steered it past the keeper for a 2-1 lead in the final minute of the half.

Saddleback came out of the locker room looking to put the game out of reach.  The Bobcats controlled play until finally striking for a third goal when Jinan Said scored her 10th goal of the season off a pass from Anjelina Nieto.  It gave the Bobcats a 3-1 lead and they cruised across the finish line the rest of the way.

Saddleback inched closer to a second straight Orange Empire Conference championship with the win over OCC on Friday. The Bobcats still lead the conference by three points with two games remaining in the season.  A win in either of the final two games would secure a conference title.

Saddleback plays again on Tuesday when it hosts Santa Ana College.  The Bobcats and Dons are set to start at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
