Bobcats record sixth straight shutout

The Saddleback women's soccer team recorded its sixth straight shutout to start the season with a 2-0 win at San Diego Mesa College on Friday night in San Diego.  The Bobcats have now outscored opponents 30-0 for the year.

Saddleback hadn't played a game in 10 days and some wondered if there would be a little rust in heading down to San Diego to play a solid Mesa team that came into the game at No. 2 in the state in power points.  The Bobcats quickly shed the rust in recording a record sixth straight shutout.

Saddleback controlled play for most of the game but didn't break through until the 69th minute when Kylie Beu took a pass from Lizbeth De Loera and beat the Mesa keeper for a 1-0 lead.  The duo would switch roles 16 minutes later when De Loera would score off a pass from Beu in the 85th minute to put the game out of reach.

The win on Friday would move Saddleback up to No. 3 in the state in power points and dropped Mesa back to No. 12.  The two teams in front of the Bobcats are Cypress College and Santiago Canyon College, who are both Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opponents.

Saddleback opens up OEC play next Tuesday when it hosts Santa Ana College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
