Back-to-back SoCal Champs


The Saddleback women's golf team captured a second straight California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California regional title on Monday at El Prado Golf Course in Chino, California.  The Bobcats shot a two-day total of 637 to win by seven shots.

Saddleback was consistent throughout, shooting 317-320 on the 5,507-yard trek.  The Bobcats were led by Nicole Whipple, who captured medalist honors with a two-day total of 4-under-par (140).  Whipple (pictured at bottom) shot a career-best round of 68 on Sunday and backed it up with an even par round of 72 on Monday to win medalist honors by four shots over Fullerton's Ylianna Fernandez. 

Saddleback showed its depth on Monday as Caitlin Randolph shot 79 and Kenzie Edson posted a round of 80.  Karissa Flores rounded out the team scoring with a round of 89 on Monday.

Saddleback's two-day total of 637 was seven shots better than Orange Empire Conference rival Fullerton College, who came in second place.  Joining Saddleback and Fullerton at the state tournament will be College of the Canyons and Bakersfield College, who finished third and fourth, respectively.

The CCCAA State Tournament takes place at Morro Bay Golf Club in Morro Bay, California, on Sunday and Monday.
