Gauchos claim third straight OEC title

The Saddleback women's golf team captured a third straight Orange Empire Conference championship on Wednesday at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.  The Gauchos posted a two-day total of 688 to win by 48 shots over their closest rival.

Brittney Do paced the Gauchos with a two-day total of 156.  She finished 12 shots off the pace in medalist play behind Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon, who shot 2-under-par (72) on Wednesday for a two-day total of 144.  Do shot even par (37) on the front nine on Wednesday before shooting 4-over-par (41) on the back. 

Other solid finishes on Wednesday were turned in by Sunhae Son (88), Anna Stowers (89) and Tomoko Kim (92).

Saddleback finished the 2018 regular season 31-1 in OEC play.  In addition, the Gauchos had five players make the Orange Empire All-Conference Team.   Brittney Do and Sunhae Son were both selected to the first team while Tannaz Khazeni, Anna Stowers and Tomoko Kim were all selected to the second team. 

Saddleback will now head to the Southern California Regional Championships at Alisal River Golf Club in Solvang, California.  The SoCal Regional Championships are a two-day event on November 4-5, with the top four teams moving on to the CCCAA State Championships at Morro Bay.
