Gauchos closing in on OEC title

The Saddleback women's golf team is closing in on a third straight Orange Empire Conference title after winning on Wednesday at Tustin Ranch Golf Club.  The Gauchos are now 19-1 in OEC play with three rounds remaining.

Saddleback edged closer to a third straight crown and now has a 5-game lead on second place Mt. San Antonio College.  The Gauchos were 38 strokes better than Mt. SAC on Wednesday on a day when the 6,064-yard layout was playing tough.

Brittney Do led Saddleback with a 5-over-par round of 77.  She finished in a tie for medalist honors with Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon and gained five shots on Irvine Valley's Katie Stribling, who came into the match leading the conference in stroke average. 

Do shot 5-over (41) on the front nine before shooting even par (36) on the back.  Her back nine featured an eagle at the 10^th hole and a birdie at the 13^th.

Saddleback's other top finishers were Sunhae Son (86), Tomoko Kim (90) and Anna Stowers (93).
