Alexa...what's a no-no?

The Saddleback softball team had a big performance on Friday as pitcher Alexa Pfutzenreuter pitched the Bobcats to a 1-0 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College at Esencia Park.  Pfutzenreuter pitched the first no-hitter for the program since the 2020 season.

Pfutzenreuter silenced the Mt. San Jacinto bats for seven innings, allowing just one walk the entire game.  She also struck out five Eagles along the way as only one runner reached second base the entire game.

Pfutzenreuter's no-hitter was the first since 2020 when Veronica Belleza and Alyssa Porras combined for a no-hitter against Golden West College on February 12 (2020).  It is also the first no-hitter by any individual since 2020 when Belleza tossed two more on her own against Los Angeles Mission College (1/30/20) and San Bernardino Valley College (1/25/20).

Saddleback scored the lone run of the game on Friday in the bottom half of the third inning when the Bobcats tied together three hits in the inning.  Malia Garcia delivered the eventual game-winner with two outs when she drove a ball up the middle to score Skye Manda.

Saddleback improved to 4-6 on the season with the win.  The Bobcats will open Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday when they host Riverside City College.  The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM at Esencia Park.
