Softball ends skid by blanking Golden West

The Saddleback softball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 10-0 decision over Golden West College on Monday afternoon at Trani Field.  The Gauchos scored in every inning to move within a game of fourth place.

Saddleback hadn't won a game since March 20 and during the four-game losing streak had seen their RPI drop out of the top-10 in Southern California.  The Gauchos responded with a resounding win, looking to move upwards in the standings with eight games remaining on the schedule.

Saddleback scored a solo run in the first inning, two more in the second and four in the third in putting the Rustlers in a big hole.  Meanwhile, Nelsa Delagente gave up three consecutive singles to start the game but managed to keep Golden West off the scoreboard.  She would combine with Nicole Gliko to allow only one hit the rest of the day, allowing just one batter to reach base after the second inning.

Drew Moore, Madison Newby and Amanda Padilla would all lead the offense with two hits as Saddleback rapped out 11 hits in only four at-bats.  Moore (pictured) would reach base all three times, scoring two runs.

Saddleback (13-16, 6-8) will play again on Wednesday when they host Fullerton College (21-13, 10-6), who currently sits in third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings.  The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
