Bobcats sweep through Cuesta

The Saddleback men's water polo team moved above .500 for the first time in five weeks after sweeping through the Cuesta College Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  The Bobcats outscored opponents 87-30 over the four games.

Saddleback was in top form at Cuesta, defeating Rio Hondo (23-3), Citrus (22-9), Diablo Valley (18-8) and San Diego Mesa (24-10).  The Bobcats never trailed at any point during the tournament, jumping out to big leads and dominating from start to finish.

Saddleback opened with Rio Hondo and scored the first six goals of the game in blowing past the Roadrunners.  The Bobcats led 4-3 against Citrus in the opening quarter before getting hot and scoring 10 of the next 13 goals in cruising past the Owls.  Saddleback then opened Saturday by scoring the first 10 goals of the game against Diablo Valley.  The Bobcats then opened with three straight goals in breezing past San Diego Mesa.

Cross Viter (pictured) had a big weekend, leading the team with 15 goals in four games.  He led the Bobcats with seven goals against Citrus and had five against San Diego Mesa in the final game of the tournament.  Jayden Rose also had a big tournament, scoring 15 goals.  Rose led the team with seven goals in the opener against Rio Hondo.  Matthew Arellano also finished in double-digits with 12 goals over the weekend while Oliver Child had nine.

Saddleback is now 13-12 overall for the season.  The Bobcats will play in the Golden West Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
