Cats look solid at Dave Shannon Invite

The Saddleback track & field team participated at the Dave Shannon Invitational on Saturday at El Camino College.  The Bobcats finished with 24 finishes in the top 10 for the day.

Saddleback had two individual state champions in 2024 in Danna Ibarra Canales and Micah Krosby, so it was no surprise that both won their respective events on Saturday.  Ibarra Canales won the women's 1,500 meters in a time of 4:39.14, which was just an eyelash off her personal-best in the event.  Krosby won the men's pole vault with a vault of 4.55 meters, which equaled a personal-best and his height at the state finals last season.

Saddleback had 10 other top 10 finishes on the women's side. 

Christabel Sargiz had three top 10 finishes in field events, finishing third in the shot put (9.98m), fourth in the hammer (20.51m) and fifth in the discus (28.13m).  Emily Fuhrmann had a pair of top 10 finishes, finishing second in the triple jump (10.13m) and fourth in the long jump (5.10m).  Midori McConathy was fifth in the javelin with a toss of 22.28 meters.  Brenna McKinnon had two top 10 finishes, finishing seventh in both the 200 meters (28.06) and 400 meters (1:01.96). Danica Tubman was eighth in the 800 meters (2:37.42) while Kiana Zerehgar was ninth in the 1,500 meters (5:14.38). 

Saddleback had 11 other top 10 finishes on the men's side.  Shae Tina had three in field events, finishing second in the hammer (43.10m), sixth in the discus (36.08) and eighth in the shot put (10.61m).  Austin Long finished in the top 10 twice, finishing second in the 400 hurdles (1:00.68) and seventh in the 110 hurdles (18.22).  Griffin Schwab did the same, finishing second in the high jump (1.90m) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.92).  Ayson Anderson was a second-place finisher in the pole vault (4.10m) while Jack Columbo was third in the hammer throw (39.05).  Logan Doyle finished sixth in the 800 meters when he crossed the finish line in 2:05.19 while Ryan Edrosolano was seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.80 meters.

Saddleback also had a fourth-place finish in the men's 4x100 relay (45.24). 

Saddleback track & field will be back in action at the Moorpark Invitational on Friday.
