Bobcats pick up second straight win

Bobcats pick up second straight win

The Saddleback men's tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 7-2 victory over College of the Desert on Thursday in Palm Desert.  It's the first 2-0 start for the program since 2019.

Saddleback entered the match with an advantage as Desert had just five players to start the day, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead out of the gate.  Saddleback then split the two remaining doubles matches and entered singles play with a 2-1 advantage.  Saddleback was a winner at No. 2 doubles when Drake Sullivan and Caden Chen (pictured) managed an 8-5 victory over Chandra Ishikawa and Nathaniel Jimenez.

Sullivan and Chen would go on to win twice on the day, also winning in singles play.  Sullivan cruised past Brenden Russell at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-1), while Chen was a (6-0, 6-2) winner over Ishikawa at No. 3 singles.

Saddleback also had wins from Nicolas Moore and Jolhan-Pierre Noiroux.  Moore was dominant in sweeping past Jimenez (6-0, 6-0) while Noiroux breezed past Johnathan Cruz (6-1, 6-0).

Saddleback is now 2-0 to start the season.  It is the first 2-0 start since the program started 3-0 in 2019.

Saddleback will try to make it three straight on Tuesday when they host San Diego City College.  The Bobcats and Knights are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.
