Men’s swim/dive finishes 9th at Pasadena

The men's and women's swim and dive teams both finished 9th at the Pasadena City College Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  The Gauchos racked up solid points in the dive competition, winning 3-of-4 events.

The PCC Invitational is widely known as one of the top events on the schedule, with 20 men's teams and 22 women's teams competing.  The Gauchos finished in the top half of both with a number of solid performances. 

On the men's side, diver Jacob Swansen was a two-time winner, taking home first place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive competition.  Swansen scored a 258.05 in the 3-meter to blow away the competition.  He then scored a 263.40 at the 1-meter, winning by more than 100 points over the second place finisher. 

In individual swim competition, Thomas Anthony finished 14th in the 400-Individual Medley (4:36.12) and 15th in the 500-Freestyle to earn points.  Anthony was joined by Max Gonter in the 400-IM, who finished 14th.

The 200-Medley Relay team of Jacob Smith, Anthony, Samuel Fulton and Edward Montgomery had a top-10 finish when it came in 9th with a time of 1:50.12.   Smith, Anthony and Montgomery the teamed with Gonter for a 9th place finish in the 800-Freestyke Relay (7:43.26).  In addition, Kai Duty, Spencer Perkins, Fulton and Austin Warren finished 14th in the same race.  The 200-Freestyle Relay team of Montgomery, Gonter, Daniel Noble and Callum Robertson finished 16th overall. 

Saddleback will compete again at the SoCal Dive Championships at El Camino College on April 13-14.
